His Eye Is On The Sparrow

Probably everyone has heard the song "His eye is on the Sparow" not many people know that that is not in the Bible. The song was based on Matthew 6:26
"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns;
yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? "

Here is a poem I wrote after seeing a bird in his freedom.

I saw a blue birdie
with a yellow tom
sit straddled on two braches
high up in the palm
It stood so high
without a plight
nearer to the vibrant light
Not worried about taking flight
It was a joyous sight to see
how that birdie stood there
and watched me
way up high upont that tree.

Seeing this bird stand on the smallest twig of a branch without fear gave me hope.
Sometimes in life we have but a small twig left to stand on and we tremble and look down wondering if we will fall. That bird stood strong on the branch.

In Matthew 10:29 God reassures us he is watching and holding us
"Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground
without your Father. "
